Title: Girls, girls, boy
Prompt: #8 - Helping their partner get over a bad relationship
Wordcount: 1339
Notes: AU I guess.

"Wait, you broke up?" Senga stares at Nikaido, at his puffy eyes and red nose, and he can't help the feeling of relief spreading within him.

"Yeah." Nikaido reaches over to the bedside table for some more tissues. "She told me over the phone, what the hell."

"Ouch." Senga says, making a pained face. "That's not okay at all."

"I was just about to go home from seeing Gaya and Mitsu. You know what Gaya told me? That I shouldn't be together with anyone as stupid as me anyway." Nikaido snorts, and Senga winces.

"Well that does sound like Fujigaya. That's supportive coming from him." Senga says softly, and if he wasn't sure why Nikaido'd called him before, he sure is now. Fujigaya is often brutally honest, even at inappropriate times.

"I guess." Nikaido mutters and wipes his eyes with the edge of the tissue. "Mitsu was nice, he hugged me, even though he said it had been a bit creepy that she looked like my little sister."

Senga quietly thinks that their friends may not be sensitive, but at least they're honest.

"So did you talk to her?" He asks carefully, uncertain of how much of Nikaido's tears are geniune sadness and how much is hurt pride and anger.

"Yeah I pretty much had to force her to come over." Nikaido grumbles. "She said she was done with me already, and mostly just yelled all the things she found wrong with me, us, and then stormed out."

"Nika, I'm sorry." Senga says softly, laying a hand on Nikaido's thigh, looking at him biting his lip to try and keep the gloss in his eyes from forming new tears.

Inwardly, Senga's happy. He hates that girl, but to be fair, he always hates them. She was like a girl version of Nikaido in many ways, not the brightest and with a tendency to say really inappropriate things. They even looked kind of alike. But she was also pretty ignorant of him, playing it off as shy, charming him into letting her go out with her girl friends instead almost every time they'd already decided something, and always considering her own dreams and plans worth more than Nikaido's.

But what made Senga's blood boil with anger was how she had everything Nikaido could give her, and didn't seem to care for it. She squirmed out of his embraces and tilted her head away when he tried to kiss her, laughing it off saying "later~".

Sure, she'd been sweet and cute to begin with, but months passed and her bad sides began popping up one at a time.

"I really liked her you know." Nikaido mumbles, looking away.

"I know." Senga says, maybe a little harsher than he should, and Nikaido turns to him with a frown.

"What?"

Senga purses his lips, trying to hold back from grabbing Nikaido's shirt and shake him for being so... Stupid. "She didn't deserve you."

"No, apparently I didn't deserve her." Nikaido mutters and Senga hears the hurt in his voice. "I didn't let her have enough freedom and space, picked unnecessary fights and apparently I'm pretty bad in bed too."

A sharp sting of jealousy goes right through Senga's heart and he suddenly hates this girl even more. "That's not true."

"What do you know." Nikaido says and crosses his arms.

"I know that you let her do anything she wanted and that she never had time for you, and if she did, it was on her terms. I know that you didn't want to confront her if you didn't feel you had too. I don't know anything about what you're like in bed, but I can't imagine you'd be bad." Senga says firmly.

Nikaido heaves a sigh. "I just... It's always like this, isn't it?"

"Like what?" Senga asks, letting his hand on Nikaido's thigh give a gentle stroke.

Nikaido glances down at Senga's hand but doesn't say anything, instead looks up at his face.

"They always leave me. Grow tired of me. I wish there was someone who'd just... Like me even when the novelty wears off." Nikaido mumbles.

"I do." Senga says without thinking, and Nikaido rolls his eyes.

"Not like that." He says, and as usual, Senga doesn't answer. Nikaido sighs and lays his hand over Senga's on his thigh. "How comes you never have a girlfriend anyway?"

Senga makes a face. "No thanks."

"Why not?" Nikaido asks, looking at Senga, like he's sizing him up, and Senga shifts. "What's the matter with you and girls? I mean, you don't even get laid, do you?"

Senga pulls his hand away, uncomfortable with Nikaido's usual subtlety hitting too close to the mark.

"Why would you care." Senga says defensively.

He's been in love with Nikaido for years. He's tried his best to get over him, tried ignoring and indulging his feelings, tried to have girlfriends and boyfriends, but nothing works. Getting drunk kind of does, because then he can pretend it's Nikaido in bed with him without feeling guilty. At least until the next day.

In the end, he got pretty good at handling his feelings. Except when Nikaido brings his girlfriends and he has to make an effort to smile at them when all he wants to do is scratch their eyes out for getting everything he could ever ask for.

"Kento, stop it." Nikaido frowns. "Of course I care, you're fantastic, girls should be all over you. And it's not like I haven't seen you dance at a club."

The words hurt and warm at the same time. He doesn't want Nikaido to praise him like that, because if he is that fantastic, why isn't Nikaido all over him?

"Yeah so? I don't want any of them." Senga shrugs and looks away, hoping he sounds at least close to casual.

He feels fingers on his face and Nikaido gently turns him back to look straight into Nikaido's dark, serious eyes. "So who do you want?"

Senga stares back, completely taken aback, not recognizing this as Nikaido's normal behaviour at all. He never prods an issue if Senga makes clear he doesn't want to talk about it.

"Nika what's gotten into you?" He asks, avoiding the question, and reluctantly withdraws from Nikaido's touch.

Nikaido just looks at him for a long, uncomfortable moment. "... Close your eyes."

"What?" Senga frowns, and Nikaido looks nervous, trying to cover it up with annoyance.

"Just do it, you trust me right?"

Senga takes a deep breath and closes his eyes, wondering what the hell is going on now. He feels the bed shift, and then Nikaido's scent invades his mind and he feels lips press against his own, so soft and gentle it's almost not even a touch.

Senga gasps and his eyes snap open, nerves lit on fire and he knows he has to stop this right now if he's going to be able to stop at all.

"Nika?!"

Nikaido looks at him, looking a bit sheepish, and embarrassed, clearly misunderstanding Senga's outburst. "Sorry! It's all Mitsu's fault he told me you liked me and I've been thinking about it since then and I guess I'm-"

Senga stops his rambling by leaning in to kiss him again, firmer this time.

When this kiss breaks, Nikaido look at Senga with new eyes, looking incredulous but curious. "You really do like me."

”Of course I do, I’ve told you like a million times.” Senga breathes, trying to calm down and stop his body from going into overdrive and just take what he wants now that he’s had a taste of it.

“I… Sorry.” Nikaido says, a light pink creeping onto his cheeks. “I don’t even think I like boys.”

His words make Senga’s insides freeze, but Nikaido’s hand is still resting on his arm and he doesn’t seem to mind Senga this close.

“But I think I can like you.” Nikaido says, and leans in for another kiss, and Senga doesn’t even bother holding back, determined to make Nikaido like boys.

It is fic and I am still mad that the girl hurt Nika like that. But I'm glad that Senga makes it better, and it's better for himself, too. Happy endings~ <3
